Important information about Apple M1 systems
Portfolio is fully compatible with macOS 11 (Big Sur) on Intel systems. We are still testing Portfolio on systems with the new Apple M1 chip and recommend that you not install the Portfolio server or Desktop Client applications on Apple M1 systems at this time.

* The .NET Frameworks must be installed before you install Portfolio 3. The .NET Framework 4.5 is usually installed by default on Windows Server.
Portfolio’s ability to deliver assets to your users depends on the resources available to it. In general, “more” and “faster” are desirable when describing server resources. We recommend the following, depending on the size of your catalogs:
Total Assets (All Catalogs) | Maximum Users | Processor Cores | Disk R/W Access | RAM | Boot Drive Space | Data Drive Free Space |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
< 50,000 | 3 | 4 | 60 MB/s | 16 GB | 100 GB | 125 GB |
< 500,000 | 5 | 4 | 180 MB/s | 16 GB | 100 GB | 250 GB |
< 1,000,000 | 10 | 8 | 250 MB/s | 16 GB | 150 GB | 500 GB |
< 5,000,000 | 25 | 12 | 250 MB/s | 24 GB | 500 GB | 2.5 TB |
< 10,000,000 | 50 | 24 | 250 MB/s | 32 GB | 1 TB | 5 TB |
The Data Drive space recommendations in this table do not include space for assets, including the Portfolio Vault. If you intend to use a Vault, you should have a very large directly-attached (internal) drive where you can locate it.
