Enterprise Edition Requirements

Enterprise Edition users have the option of utilizing one of these external databases. Use of an external database is required with a proxy failover configuration.

Universal Type Client and Core Client

Notes

Client/Server Compatibility: Universal Type Server 7 supports connections from Universal Type Client 6.1.7 and 7.x, and from Core Client 6.1.5, 6.1.6, and 7.x. If your organization is running an older version of Type Server, do not upgrade to this version of Universal Type Client or Core Client.
Virtualization: Universal Type Client is a single-user application and is only supported for installation on a stand-alone system. Installation in a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or similar server-based solution is explicitly unsupported.

Notes

The Font Panel for Adobe Photoshop does not yet run natively on Apple M1 systems. If you need to access the Font Panel in Adobe Photoshop, you can run Photoshop using Rosetta 2. See this article for more information.
Font auto-activation for Adobe Photoshop works as expected, running Photoshop in “native” M1 mode. If you do not need the Font Panel, you do not need to use Rosetta 2.
Adobe After Effects is not yet a native M1 application. It will always run using Rosetta 2.
All of our other Adobe plug-ins are fully M1 native.
We do not provide a Quark XTension for versions of QuarkXPress that are supported on M1 systems.

Server Administration and User Management

Requirements for any computers that will be used for Server Administration or User Management. These applications can be run remotely.

Microsoft Edge (for administering the server from Windows), Safari 11 or later (for administering the server from a Macintosh), or the current release of Firefox or Chrome
An Internet connection and one of the above browsers to view Help.

Reports

Reports can be viewed using any supported browser.

Microsoft Edge (for viewing reports from Windows 10), or
Safari 11 or later (for viewing reports from macOS), or
The current release of Firefox, or
The current release of Chrome

Reports can also be viewed from a tablet on the same network as the Universal Type Server. The minimum requirements are:

iOS 11 or later, Android™ 9.0 or later, or Windows 10 v1803 or later, and
1024×768 or larger display.
